(2 Thessalonians 2:1–17) As you read what Paul wrote in that passage, did you happen to notice what he says about “the Lord’s Day”? He is warning True Believers against believing one specific lie—what he calls “the lie.” Take another look:
1(1) So, brothers, we are asking you {to do the following}(a) for the sake of(i) the coming of our Master, Jesus, the Anointed One, and(ii) our assembling to Him,2(b) so that you:(i) would not be quickly shaken out of your mind, or(ii) be alarmed—(a) neither by a spirit(b) nor by a word(c) nor by a letter(i) as if it were {written} by us—(ii) as though it is currently the day of His Majesty.(2 Thessalonians 2:1–2) —Harper’s Standardized Study Bible
Paul is saying the lying Snake Satan was already using numbskulls to float the nonsense notion that God has finished this Creation and the seventh “day” of Creation has already come! Therefore, Genesis 1:26–27 must refer to our forefather Adam instead of Christ. So that dimwit was able to kill two basic beliefs with one bald-faced lie! Paul refers to that lie again in verse 11:
11(1) So for this reason the {living} God will send them a deceptive energy(a) so that they believe the lie,12(b) so that all who did not believe the truth but were delighted with his injustice can be judged.(2 Thessalonians 2:11–12) —Harper’s Standardized Study Bible
In verse 11, Paul is referring to “the lie” that he mentions in verse 2—“the lie” I have put to rest in the minds of True Believers by what I have written here. Therefore, his warning does not bode well for anyone who wants to stubbornly cling to the mistaken notion that the Church has not already gone through “the apostasy” he mentions in verse 3:
(2) Do not let anyone dupe you in any way at all, that it may not be that:(a) the apostasy must come first and(b) the man of the lawless one—the son of eternal damnation—must be revealed.(2 Thessalonians 2:3) —Harper’s Standardized Study Bible
Although it will not be obvious to those who cannot read the original Greek text, there are, at the very least, three other places where Paul refers to the seventh “day” of Creation and indicates it is still to come.
