Will you be able to recognize the Liar when he appears? That is an appropriate question, considering the fact that current events clearly indicate the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is rapidly approaching. The question is made even more appropriate by the way the Apostle John describes the appearance of Satan in the person of the Antichrist:
And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
(Revelation 12:9)—NASB
Some today vehemently insist there is no need for Christians to worry about being deceived by Satan because they will already have been raptured by the time he appears as the Antichrist. But what if that belief is just another part of his deceptions? If you think is isn’t, what makes you so sure?
Two Early Church Fathers—Irenæus and Hippolytus—were the second- and third-generation disciples of the Apostle John. Both lived less than a century after John died, and both say exactly the same thing about the appearance of the Antichrist and the Great Tribulation. What they say not only flatly contradicts current beliefs, it also confirms that those beliefs are nothing more than part of Satan’s deception.
So who are you going to believe? Two disciples of the Apostle John or those today who make you feel comfortable believing a lie? Don’t worry, you will answer that question by the way you respond to this opportunity to learn the Truth. How do I know that? Simple. The Apostle Paul said so when he described the appearance of the Antichrist:
And then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; {that is,} the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. And for this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they might believe what is false, in order that they all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in wickedness.
(2 Thessalonians 2:8-12)—NASB
